Make a newspaper clipping effect.

Choose the paper, typography, highlight and pacing for a printed-page video effect.

Build the look around one phrase

The newspaper clipping effect places a highlighted phrase inside changing printed pages. In CUTROOM, each cut has a different combination of type, crop and paper tone. You supply the phrase; the tool typesets the surrounding pages.

Start with two or three words. A short title can stay large enough to read while still leaving visible context on either side.

Choose the printed style

StyleWhat it changesTry it for
PressWarm paper, serif and typewriter-style variations. An editorial or documentary-inspired clip.
StudioLighter paper tones and more sans-serif typography.A title or product introduction.
InkDark pages, light type and a contrasting highlight.A sequence placed between darker scenes.

The paper grain and slight printing variations are part of the rendered video. They remain in the downloaded file.

Adjust the highlight and crop

Pick one of the four highlight colours. Yellow stays close to a familiar marker; pink, blue and orange give you other ways to match the surrounding edit. Keep enough contrast between the letters and the highlight.

Dynamic framing shifts the crop between cuts. Locked framing holds the phrase in the centre. Under Animation, Text size controls how much space the phrase occupies. Longer phrases are automatically reduced to fit.

Set a pace you can read

Try 6–8 cuts per second first, then play the preview. Lower the pace for a longer phrase. Use Paper rustle to add a short sound at each cut, or No sound if you are editing to music.

Shuffle pages gives you a new sequence without changing the phrase, colour or format. Pick the version you prefer, then export it. For a vertical clip, follow the Reels and Shorts guide.
