MP4 or WebM?
Choose a video format, check the export dimensions and resolve common browser export problems.
Choose the file for its destination
Start with MP4 when you plan to import the clip into an editor or create a text match cut for Reels and Shorts. CUTROOM uses H.264 video and AAC audio for this export.
WebM is another option for browser playback and workflows that accept it. CUTROOM uses VP9 video and Opus audio. Check that the destination accepts WebM before choosing it.
Both options export the same composition. Changing the container does not change your text, framing or animation settings.
Export dimensions
| Format | 1080p | 720p |
|---|---|---|
| 9:16 vertical | 1080 × 1920 | 720 × 1280 |
| 1:1 square | 1080 × 1080 | 720 × 720 |
| 16:9 widescreen | 1920 × 1080 | 1280 × 720 |
All exports use 30 frames per second. The pace control changes the number of page cuts per second, not the video frame rate. A four-second export at 8 cuts per second contains 32 page compositions.
If an export does not start
CUTROOM checks whether your browser can encode the selected format. If the format is unsupported, try the other one. If audio encoding is unavailable, select No sound or change the file format.
For an export that fails during rendering, try 720p, a shorter duration or a recent version of Chrome or Edge. Keep the tab open while it finishes. You can cancel the export and return to editing without losing your text.
Download and check the finished clip
After rendering, the finished video replaces the preview. Play it once, then select Download. The file includes the selected sound unless No sound was chosen.
Use Back to editing to change the composition. Changes do not alter a file you already downloaded; export again to save the revised video. File size varies with duration, resolution and the amount of visual detail.
